Let’s Start Your Journey With a BIPOC and Queer Counsellor by Your Side

I am honoured to be your compass as you navigate through life’s uncharted waters. As a BIPOC and queer counsellor, I value transparency and clarity. Here’s how we can dive in:

INDIVIDUAL SESSION

50-min INITIAL INTAKE session                                   CAD$ 275

This is our icebreaker session. Here we learn from each other about what brought you to counselling and how I can help you get to where you want to be. I approach this first session with curiosity, cultural humility, and care for your lived experience.

50-min REGULAR SUBSEQUENT sessions CAD$ 250

FEELING LIKE YOU HAVE A LOT MORE TO SHARE AND PROCESS?

I totally got you! Sometimes 50 minutes feels too short, especially when you’re unpacking layered experiences around identity, culture, relationships, or belonging. That’s why I also offer extended sessions, so you don’t feel rushed or cut off. Which one fits you better?

 75-min sessions                                                             CAD$ 375
90-min sessions                                                            CAD$ 425
100-min sessions CAD$495

The fees displayed above covers:
The fees listed above reflect more than just time in session. They include our energy exchange during our work together, correspondence in-between sessions, professional preparation, research, continuing education, and the care I take in showing up as an ethical, affirming queer and BIPOC counsellor in the space.

I feel ready to kickstart the adventure and discover my best self

AUTISM FUNDING UNIT (AFU)

I also accept Autism Funding Unit (AFU) funding. Supporting neurodivergent youth and families is an important part of my work, and I’m happy to collaborate with caregivers using AFU to access counselling services. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you or need help navigating the process, just reach out, and we’ll figure it out together. AFU-funded sessions follow the same fee structure outlined above.

INSURANCE COVERAGE

Counselling services are not covered under the BC Medical Services Plan. However, some extended benefits plans cover services provided by a counsellor with Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designations.

Coverage amounts vary, depending on your plan, so check with your insurance provider before your first visit. If your extended health benefits do not cover RCC or CCC services, it is worth inquiring if coverage for counselling could be issued in lieu of psychologists or other health benefits.

The following plans are known to provide coverage for counselling services by an RCC practitioner:
Great West Life | Pacific Blue Cross | Sunlife Insurance | Sure Health | Green Shield Insurance

DIRECT BILLING

At this time, I do not offer direct billing to your insurance provider. If you require a receipt to submit to your provider, one will be provided.

SOCIAL MEDIA

I’m fairly active on social media, especially Instagram. As a Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC) in BC, I am required to have a social media policy. So, so here are a few things worth noting

As a BIPOC counsellor, I use social media to share reflections, insights, and education related to my practice. As a queer counsellor, I also share content around identity, belonging, neurodiversity, and lived experience. Occasionally, I offer behind-the-scenes glimpses inspired by my personal and professional life. My intention is to share, educate, and connect, not to perform perfection.

CAVEAT: While you’re welcome to follow my profile, I’m unable to follow you back or accept friend requests from current or former clients on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok). This is to protect your confidentiality and maintain clear therapeutic boundaries. You’re always welcome to view, share, or engage with my content in ways that feel comfortable for you.

What a former client has to share about your BIPOC counsellor...

“Nita is a very understanding and patient BIPOC counsellor. Prior to seeing her, I have had multiple counsellors throughout my school years to help me handle my depression, anxiety and childhood trauma. When I left school, I was worried about not being able to find someone who could help me continue my journey. However, meeting Nita not only proved my worries unnecessary, but also introduced me to new methods of handling my emotions while encouraging me to explore new perspectives to look at my past experiences. Despite only seeing Nita during a limited time in the sessions, I will make use of what I learned from her for the rest of my life” -CC-

“vulnerability is …

the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity.
It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity.
If we want greater clarity in our purpose, or deeper and more meaningful spiritual lives, vulnerability is the path.”
